Stella Gerbi

Stella Girl Gerbi passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024. Stella was the daughter of Lou and Hope Gerbi, little sister to Kel and Owen, and big sister and the boss of Mugsy and Sherman. Stella was actually the boss of everyone. She wore the proverbial pants. She is survived by her parents, siblings, grandparents and many other relatives and friends who loved her. Stella loved birthdays. She got very excited when she heard anyone sing the Happy Birthday song. She loved cake and thought that every present was for her, so we always had to put some treats in the gift bags for her. It became quite normal to insert Stella's name in the song every time it was recited on anyone's birthday. Nobody ever had a problem with that. The smile on her face and the wiggle in her bum while she pranced around to the song was fantastic. Stella loved going for walks around the neighborhood and seeing other dogs and people. She loved kids. She was always ready to give kisses to any boy or girl who would let her. She love her "pretty dresses." She loved her skateboard and carrying it into the grass so that it would not roll away. She liked working in the garden with her dad and laying by the pool on the lounge chair with her mom. Stella loved Friday night couch sleeping with her dad because he did not have to get up for work the next day. She loved Christmas and waiting at the door for Santa to come by on the firetruck. Halloween was a favorite of hers because she got to dress up and see all sorts of kids. She loved going bye-bye in the car and getting ice cream or hamburgers. New fluffy blankets always became hers. She was a champion sleeper, she always looked so comfortable. Her snoring will be missed. Stella loved other animals and usually wanted to kiss them. Food was her passion and she had mastered the art of begging. Honestly, Stella loved life and most of the wonderful things that it had to offer. She was not a fan of rain, dirty feet, baths or pretzels, and she hated the wet/sticky bandits from Home Alone and also Tom Cruise, but that is about it. She lived the most wonderful life with her family whom she loved more than anything. Stella loved unconditionally. Stella fought a long battle with her health. She was diagnosed with hip dysplasia before she was even a year old. She fought tail pocket infections until we made the decision to amputate her tail, which she came through like a champ. Her most recent battle was with cancer. We were told on October 24, 2023 that she may only live three more days. Once again in true boss fashion, Stella decided that she was the master of her life and enjoyed Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and a few fake birthday parties with her loved ones. Since she was unable to walk around her neighborhood, she was strolled around the neighborhood. She was carried up and down the stairs so that she could still sleep in her bed. Unfortunately, after a hard fought 4 months, our precious girl decided that she was ready to leave this world on her terms. We will think of her at every birthday and every time we eat something. We will carry her with us everywhere. Stella will be forever missed and forever remembered. We were truly blessed to spend her life with her. Cherish everyday that you have with your fur babies. Hug them a little harder today and kiss them in true Stella fashion. Psalm 30:6 "Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgements are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O Lord." Until we meet again Sweet Stella. We will love you forever.
