What to Do When a Death Occurs

When Your Pet Dies At Home

When Your Pet Dies At Home

  1. Remove your pet’s collar and please do not place any toys, blankets, bedding, or clothing in the container.

  2. What is needed for smaller pets (under 45 lbs), is to place your pet in a box with plastic placed on the bottom or in a plastic container. What is needed for larger pets (over 45 lb), is to place your pet in a plastic container or on a sheet that has plastic on top, meaning the plastic will be directly underneath your pet. The reason for the plastic is in the event your pet soils himself/herself when moved, which is very common, it should not go through the plastic.

  3. After you have completed the above steps, please call us anytime between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm and one of our trained staff will assist you during your time of need. We will coordinate a time for you to bring your pet to one of our staffed locations during regular business hours.

We are unable to accept any pet that is in a crate/carrier and we are unable to accept their toys, blankets, bedding, or clothing.
